Contra Costa County, California – As a major event facility, The Contra Costa Event Park has been weighing all of its options as they monitor the evolving COVID-19 situation. The safety of the Fairgrounds family, patrons, vendors, promoters and sponsors remain their highest priority. With heavy hearts and great regret the Park’s Board of Directors unanimously voted to cancel the 2021 Contra Costa County Fair scheduled for May 13 – 16.
In a statement, the board said “We understand that this decision has both financial and emotional impact on all of our Fair partners. After thoughtful consideration, we do not feel it would be a responsible decision to continue with the planning of the 2021 Contra Costa County Fair, when it could potential be canceled at the last minute.”
The annual Contra Costa County Fair has delighted visitors for more than 80 years. During this time it operated uninterrupted—except by World War II. Because of the fair’s place in our communities’ history and traditions, the decision to cancel the 2021 Fair did not come lightly.
The board thanks the community and all of their partners for their continued support during these challenging times.
They have scheduled the 2022 Contra Costa County Fair for May 12 – 15.
