Oakland woman arrested in connection to retail theft, merchandise returned
Walnut Creek, California – Officers arrested a female suspect in Walnut Creek on Sunday, believed to be responsible for organized retail theft, and recovered nearly $2,000 in stolen merchandise.
According to the police’s announcement on social media, the arrest of the Oakland woman was made after an officer patrolling downtown saw a suspicious vehicle with no plates parked near Broadway Plaza.
Eriona Mclothan, 24, was apprehended with the assistance of other police officers, and the merchandise from several shops in Broadway Plaza was returned, according to police.
The returned merchandise was estimated at around $2,000.
Due to an increase in retail crime, more Walnut Creek police officers, as well as officers from Lafayette and Contra Costa County Sheriff’s deputies, are patrolling the downtown area.
