Concord woman arrested for DUI after hitting two pedestrians in Walnut Creek accident over the weekend

Concord, California – Two pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in Walnut Creek over the weekend, and the driver of the vehicle, a Concord woman, was taken into custody for DUI.

Walnut Creek police said officers were sent to the area of N. Main Street and Pine Street at approximately 1:50 a.m. on Saturday after one patrol officer reported hearing an accident.

Upon arrival at the scene, they found that a pickup truck struck two pedestrians on the east sidewalk of N. Main Street and then crashed into a cement pillar.

One of the pedestrians was declared dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Information on the condition of the hospitalized pedestrian was not released.

The driver of the pickup truck was said to be a Concord resident and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
