East Bay BART service was suspended for over an hour due to a minor grass fire Thursday
Pleasant Hill, California – Officials said BART service between the Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Center and Concord stations was halted for over an hour due to a minor grass fire on Thursday.
Reports of a fire along a trackway behind the 1100 block of Briarwood Way in unincorporated Walnut Creek prompted the response of Contra Costa County Fire Protection District firefighters shortly before 6:15 p.m.
Firefighters quickly put out the small grass fire upon arrival at the location.
According to a BART service alert issued out by the agency, service was suspended and mutual-aid buses ran between the two stations on the Nos. 11, 14 and 15 lines. Service returned to normal by 7:30 p.m.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Neither injuries nor property damage were recorded as a result of the fire.
