Highway 4 crash claimed the life of one person

Antioch, California – A vehicle accident on Highway 4 on Sunday night claimed the life of one person, according to authorities.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol were sent to the scene of a crash in the westbound lanes of Highway 4 just east of Auto Center Road at 9:36 p.m.

Officer Damian Cistaro of the California Highway Patrol said that when officers arrived on the scene, they discovered an overturned vehicle in the road as well as crews from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District providing medical treatment to a person.

Shortly after, the victim was declared dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim was not revealed pending notification of his family by the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office coroner’s division.

Some of the westbound lanes on Highway 4 were closed during the night.
