Man suspected of carjacking Uber driver taken into custody
San Francisco, California – A man believed to be responsible for carjacking an Uber driver in the South of Market area on Friday afternoon was taken into custody, according to the San Francisco Police Department.
At around 5:15 p.m. on Friday, San Francisco Police Investigations Commander Raj Vaswani shared information regarding the incident on Twitter.
Vaswani did not reveal many specifics about the incident and only said the Uber driver was carjacked “a few hours ago” at the junction of 7th Street and Mission.
According to Vaswani, authorities had seen and followed the stolen car, which crashed in SoMa and led officers on a short foot pursuit before arresting the suspect.
The suspect was wanted on a felony probation warrant out of Alameda County and was taken into custody for a number of offences.
