Monument Crisis Center Aims To Provide 1,000 Thanksgiving Dinners

Concord, California – Monument Crisis Center aims to provide 1,000 local families a Thanksgiving dinner for the holidays and needs the community’s help “setting the table.”

“Thanks to generous financial contributions towards turkeys from individual donors, Wells Fargo Foundation and Mt. Diablo Resource Recovery, MCC hopes to complete the meal with all the trimmings,” Executive Director Sandra Scherer said Friday in a news release.

The goal is to provide each family a “trimmings bag” consisting of canned cranberries, vegetables, gravy, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cornbread and cake mix.

“Together with a frozen turkey this will provide a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner for a local family,” Scherer said.

Donations can be brought to Monument Crisis Center, 1990 Market St. in Concord, during the following drop-off times: Monday – Thursday, Nov. 16-19 from 9 a.m. to noon, with additional hours Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 18-19 from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

For those who would like to make a monetary donation, funds can be contributed online at Monumentcrisiscenter.org; by mailing a check to P.O. Box 23973, Pleasant Hill, CA 94523; or by texting the words Donate MCC to 41-444.

Questions about the Thanksgiving dinner can be sent by email to Alexa Gambero at [email protected] or Danny Scherer at [email protected].

Monument Crisis Center is a nonprofit that serves as a family resource center for more than 10,000 at-risk, low income Contra Costa County residents each year.
