No injuries reported after a two-alarm fire engulfed several apartment units in Antioch

Antioch, California – A two-alarm fire that engulfed several apartments in Antioch at Auto Center and Sycamore Drives on Friday night caused at least 33 people to be evacuated from their homes.

The Contra Costa County Fire Protection District notified the public about the fire at 8:42 p.m. on its Twitter account, and crews at the scene were able to extinguish the blaze in about 40 minutes.

Officials said residents from the building, including 12 children and 21 adults, were displaced, but fortunately, no injuries were recorded. The damage caused by the fire was estimated at around $1 million.

Crews from the Red Cross were also at the scene to provide aid if needed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
