Richmond resident taken into custody in connection with San Pablo fatal hit-and-run crash
San Pablo, California – A hit-and-run crash that occurred early Saturday morning in San Pablo, where a 68-year-old bicyclist was killed, resulted in the arrest of a man, according to authorities.
Police arrested the 30-year-old Richmond resident, Jesse Dubois, on charges of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
Officers were sent near Rumrill Boulevard at 19th Street in response to reports of a hit-and-run accident involving a bicycle.
When officers got to the scene, they found the 68-year-old bicyclist laying in the middle of the junction suffering from apparent injuries sustained in the crash. Despite the efforts of the crews to save the man’s life, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Footage obtained from surveillance cameras in the neighborhood showed the bicyclist was struck by a 2011 burgundy Nissan Sentra.
Officers tracked down the vehicle in the 700 block of Market Avenue in Richmond. The officers determined the vehicle had visible signs of collision damage and the owner of the vehicle, Jesse Dubois, was taken into custody. He is currently being held in the Contra Costa County Jail.
According to the police report, drugs and alcohol were not considered a factor in the crash.
