Concord, California – The Board of Visit Concord will donate $1,000 in food items each month over the next three months to the Monument Crisis Center, supporting the center’s Holiday Food Box program for those most in need in our community.
“The financial losses due to this virus have been catastrophic, leading to extreme levels of unemployment, especially in the hospitality and tourism industry,” said Elaine Schroth, president and CEO of Visit Concord. “We felt it was important to lead by example with this partnership, to help the unemployed and vulnerable population, so that all can have equal quality of life and return quicker to a level of ‘normalcy.’ ”
“As a member of Visit Concord, the team at the Crowne Plaza Concord is pleased to assist in supporting the needs of our community,” noted Chris Mellini, a Visit Concord Board Member and general manager of the hotel. “We are grateful that Visit Concord has found a way to assist helping those in need.“
Monument Crisis Center is committed to offering resource for families in need in Central and East Contra Costa County. The center is dedicated to providing nutritious food and other basic needs to help families build a path to stability and security in their community.
The first donation was made Dec. 1. Visit Concord will look at continuing the partnership in early spring during the next round of budgeting.
