Contra Costa County invites families to expanded Bay Point Community Resource Fair featuring free resources and community support

Bay Point, California – Residents across East Contra Costa County will soon have an opportunity to connect with dozens of organizations offering free support, information, and family activities as the 2026 Bay Point Community Resource Fair returns with a larger event than last year.

Hosted by Contra Costa County Supervisor Shanelle Scales-Preston, the free community gathering is designed to bring valuable services directly to local residents while creating a welcoming environment for families of all ages. Organizers say the fair will connect people with educational programs, healthcare resources, workforce assistance, housing support, and many other services that can help strengthen the community.

The event follows the success of its first edition and has expanded considerably for 2026. This year, more than 90 nonprofit organizations, government agencies, educational institutions, healthcare providers, workforce development groups, and community partners are expected to take part.

These organizations will offer free information, answer questions, and introduce residents to programs that may benefit individuals, families, seniors, students, and job seekers.

Wide variety of free resources and family activities

Supervisor Shanelle Scales-Preston said the goal of the fair is to remove barriers by making important services easier for people to access close to home.

“The Bay Point Community Resource Fair is about bringing resources directly into our community and making it easier for families to access the services, programs, and opportunities they need to thrive,” said Supervisor Shanelle Scales-Preston. “This event is about more than providing information—it’s about creating connections, strengthening our community, and ensuring every resident knows they are supported. I invite everyone to join us for a fun-filled day of learning, resources, and community.”

Along with educational materials and public services, organizers have planned numerous free attractions and giveaways to encourage families to attend.

Children will be able to enjoy jump houses, a petting zoo, games, raffle prizes, and other kid-friendly activities throughout the day. Families can also enjoy live DJ entertainment, along with cotton candy and snow cones.

Several practical services will also be available at no cost. Visitors will have access to free backpacks and school supplies while supplies last, free fresh groceries, and free lunch for attendees while available. Community members can also receive free haircuts and professional headshots, while those interested in adopting a pet will have the opportunity to meet animals looking for new homes.

Beyond the entertainment, the event will provide important community support in many areas. Residents can learn about workforce development opportunities, healthcare services, mental health resources, housing and homelessness assistance, senior services, youth programs, educational opportunities, financial literacy, emergency preparedness, public safety information, and Community Warning System registration.

Organizers hope bringing these services together in one location will make it easier for residents to discover programs they may not have known were available.
