Contra Costa County struck by an earthquake swarm

Contra Costa County, California – There were a total of 12 earthquakes registered near the Crow Canyon Country Club in southeast Danville, near San Ramon, on Wednesday. The swarm started shortly before midday and lasted 44 minutes.

According to the US Geological Survey, the strongest quake, which struck at 11:43 a.m., was lowered from a preliminary magnitude of 4.2 to 3.8. The depth was estimated to be around 6.8 miles by the USGS.

The quakes vary in magnitude from 1.3 to 3.8, with the most recent occurring at 12:27 p.m. with a magnitude of 1.6 and a depth of 5.8 miles.

There have been no reports of damage.
