Emeryville Art Exhibition returns to Public Market for a third year, showcasing over 200 artworks by local talents
Emeryville, California – Emeryville’s annual celebration of creativity and artistry, the Emeryville Art Exhibition, is set to dazzle the community once again as it returns to the spacious former Urban Outfitters space at the Public Market for its third year in a row. The artworks scheduled for October 5th through October 27th will have a perfect backdrop from this famous site, recognized for its open layout and rustic appeal distinguished by exposed brick and beams.
Emphasizing the dedication to create a thriving cultural culture in Emeryville, Lauren Krause, VP of Oxford Properties Group, expressed enthusiasm about the event.

With more than 200 pieces by more than 150 artists—including painters, sculptors, photographers, and more—this year’s exhibition promises to be a vast and painstakingly chosen selection The festival highlights the strong creative roots in the town by drawing a mix of new participants and returning veterans including jeweler Bassem Elias and famous photographer Richard Misrach.
The coordinator of the event, Sharon Wilchar, underlined the local artists’ passion. She said it’s great to watch artists who have won national and international praise go back to their roots to take part in the annual festival. The event is vibrant and varied in terms of artistic expression since it accepts newbies as well as seasoned performers.
Kathleen Hanna, serving her 13th year as curator and juror, shared insights on the selection process.
“Thirty percent of the artists exhibiting this year are new to the juried exhibition, which is open to all artists living or working in Emeryville,” explains Hanna. “This is wonderful news and confirms that the project is alive and well and an important contribution to the community life of Emeryville.”

Set for Friday, October 4 at 6 p.m., the opening night reception is the ideal chance for art enthusiasts to meet the artists, savor the first look of their most recent creations, and enjoy live jazz and blues by The doRiaN Mode. With free admission, the event also supports the Emeryville Youth Art Program through proceeds from a no-host bar.
