Contra Costa County, California – The lighting of the Mount Diablo summit beacon is a popular event that takes place on Pearl Harbor Day, which is observed annually on December 7th.
This is a recurring event held in honor of those who have served our country and made sacrifices.
Proclamations were signed on February 25, 2022, at Danville’s Veterans Memorial Building to light the Mount Diablo beacon to celebrate Pearl Harbor Day, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day.
Beginning with the year 2022 and continuing on into the years that follow, the beacon will be lit on those three days from sunset till sunrise.
In observance of the upcoming Memorial Day, the Beacon will be lit on the evening of Monday, May 30. The Beacon will remain lit throughout the night and will be turned off at sunrise on May 31.
