Mother posted a video of her baby and then got a message from a stranger that something was wrong, she is grateful to her for noticing the abnormality
When a mother named Lily posted a video of her son on social media, a message from a stranger confirmed her fears that something was wrong with the boy’s eye.
Lily’s video, ten seconds in total, was a clip of her son, Ari. But as short as the video was, it caught the attention of optometrist Laura Brown!
Although she was a little worried that receiving a message from a stranger might seem strange, Laura decided that she couldn’t ignore the concern she had about the child’s eyesight.
Dr. Laura noticed that Ari’s eye was cloudy and squinting outward and called Lily to have her 8-week-old checked by a specialist.
Tests revealed that Ari had congenital glaucoma, which can lead to blindness if left untreated. His condition required emergency surgery, which involved inserting a tube into his eye to drain excess fluid.
New mom Lily had already been to the doctor and expressed concern about her sweet baby’s eye, but the doctors told her to come back in three months if the problem continued.
After receiving a text from a stranger (Dr. Laura), Lily took Ari to a specialist.
Fortunately, the problem was corrected in time. Dr. Laura said, “He would have lost all or most of the vision in that eye within a few months if he hadn’t been treated.”
Dr. Laura encourages parents to follow their instincts when it comes to the health of their children.
How fortunate that Lily trusted her feelings and followed Dr. Laura’s advice about Ari!
Lily said: “I’m so grateful to her for reaching out. It’s something I’ll never forget. It would be lovely to have an impact on someone’s life like that.”
