Police investigating after a postal service employee was robbed and beaten with a weapon
Lafayette, California – Police are investigating an incident where a U.S. postal service employee was reportedly pistol-whipped and robbed while doing her job in Lafayette on Monday.
The incident took place at around 12:55 p.m. outside of a business complex in the 2900 block of Camino Diablo.
Reportedly, the attackers were following the employee and shortly after they hit the postal worker in the head with an unidentified sort of weapon. The suspects are only described as being black, with one of the individuals being thin and wearing a hoodie at the time of the incident.
The worker was taken to a hospital to get care for the injuries she got in the attack.
According to authorities, the suspects managed to get away from the scene with what is believed to be a black BMW SUV with chrome trim around the rims and windows, with the postal keys and other personal belongings of the postal service employee.
The United States Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to fifty thousand dollars for information that leads to the arrests of the suspects.
