Recent shootings in SF left one teenager dead, one injured
San Francisco, California – As the city’s crime-statistic calendar year comes to an end, a murder in the Bayview on Tuesday was added to the city’s homicide total.
On Tuesday afternoon, a 19-year-old teenager was shot and killed on Third Street near La Salle Avenue. According to authorities, the shooting occurred at 4:11 p.m.
The teenager was shot numerous times and died in the hospital as a result of his wounds.
There have been no arrests made regarding the shooting.
A few hours later, another shooting occurred in the area of Mendell Street and Fairfax Avenue in Hunters Point, and this time, an 18-year-old teenager was shot and wounded while driving his vehicle. It is still unknown whether the two incidents were connected.
With Tuesday’s murder, the city has now had 41 homicides in the calendar year, matching the historic low recorded at the end of 2019. With around six weeks left in the year, the city is on course to have a lower number than last year, which was 47 by the end of the year.
Two of the city’s most recent murders occurred on or near Haight Street, and a recent spate of shootings along Haight Street has prompted concerns about gang warfare.
