San Jose crash leaves two people dead, two injured

San Jose, California – Two pedestrians died and another was injured Tuesday night in San Jose after being hit while crossing the Almaden Expressway.

San Jose police officers rushed to the neighborhood of Almaden Expressway and Foxworthy Ave. at around 8:24 p.m. on Wednesday for a fatal accident involving a vehicle and three pedestrians.

A preliminary investigation showed that a 2017 Toyota car was going northbound on Almaden Expressway in the No. 1 lane in the area of Foxworthy Avenue when it hit three pedestrians who were crossing Almaden Expressway. The pedestrians were not crossing the street at a designated crosswalk at the time of the collision.

Two of the pedestrians succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital, while the third sustained non-life threatening injuries. Once the next of kin of the victims have been informed, the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office will announce the identities of the victims.

The driver, who also suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, was cooperative with the investigation and provided information. In this case, there was no sign of drug or alcohol use.
