Driver killed in a fiery single-vehicle accident in Concord

Concord, California – According to the California Highway Patrol, one person was killed after a vehicle veered off northbound I-680 at Concord Ave. early Monday and erupted into flames near the intersection.

Officers arrived at the scene around 4:28 a.m. after a report of a vehicle caught on fire. They said the vehicle the went off the highway into a ditch after the driver lost control over the vehicle and burst into flames.

Upon arriving at the scene, they found that the driver had been unable to escape and had died as a result of the accident.

After notifying the driver’s next of kin, the identity of the driver will be released.

The cause of the accident was still being investigated.
